[Blindapple] My hesitancy in buying a drive.

The unidisk 3.5 has a daughter board and works with liron or 3.5” drive controller as well as smart ports on 2nd gen Or later iic or iigs.  Standard 3.5” drives work on IIgs and 3.5” controller.  And SuperDrives work as a standard 800k 3.5” or as a 1.44M with HD disks.  (All this info can be found in various A2 FAQs online.)
