I'd love those apple talk disks. The public domain section of each magazine always had good games, and I found out about allot of disks that way through the disk library file in each issue.

  Hi,

Oregon Trail is there, and so is the Dragon Maze. As for the math games disk, yes, I do have it. However, there are a few things about it that would make it questionable to distribute from a legal perspective. First, I'd need to get permission from APH. However, the bigger issue is that APH adapted that disk from a title produced by MECC. The site where I read this seems to have disappeared, but from what I understand, MECC titles are in a sort of legal limbo, because of some lost documentation, and nobody can figure out who actually owns the rights to those programs any more, so they can't reclassify it as freeware even if they wanted to.

Hi all. I told everyone i'm using a Mac, and am a little unsure how to start this thing. I can't wait though, because I remember the old Oregon trail, the dragon maze, what i used to love, and wonder if someone has it, or if it's there were the old math games disc. everything from making change to rounding numbers. I think it had metric 21 and also bagels? I'm itching to figure out things because I want to play. :) I realize it will take time, i'm just teasing.

You extract the messapple-win.zip file. In the readme is the command string for how to start the emulator. I copied the string into Notepad and saved it as games.bat in the same folder with the extracted messapple-win. Now all I have to do is navigate to the folder where messapple-win is located and select games.bat. If I'm at the Dos command prompt instead of Windows Explorer, I type games.bat instead of selecting it. The emulator then loads. As stated earlier, this is my personal preference.

Batch files were made for the Dos operating system, though I'm not sure if they originated with Apple Dos or Microsoft Dos. Regardless they are a way to execute a series of commands quickly.

What do you not understand in the readme?

        Blake

          Hi Trina,

Welcome to BlindApple. To get started, I suggest the following steps.

          1. Open the zip file.

          2. Go into the File menu with alt-f and arrow to Extract all. Press enter.

          3. Select the extract button and press enter.

          4. After the files are extracted, go into the folder that was created by extraction and read the readme. Follow the steps there to start the emulator. I myself created a batch file so I don't have to copy and paste the command string for loading a disk into the emulator. That is my personal pereference.

          5. Post to this list with additional questions.

          I hope this helps.

          Blake

          Hi:

My name is Trina and I'm 43 years old and I'm from Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada. I sing and play guitar, but most of all, I love helping people and learning new information.

I just received the advertisement from Jason through the RS Games and I'd love to play!!! It sounds like a lot of fun, but I don't have much experience with some of this stuff like unzipping files. It's okay if you're laughing because I am lol.

By the way, I'm totally blind and I use Jaws with Windows XP.

I look forward to talking with all of you.

          Your new friend Trina.

          Live life to the fullest!!!!!
