Hi.  When I had the Doubletalk, I think I did try to set it up as an Echo 
in DOS.  It didn't work so I gave up, thus my surprise at what I read in 
the RDC newsletter that this apparently would work and did have an Echo 
mode, even for the external synthesizer.  Is it possible that that was only 
the very early models of the LT and this went away later?  Unfortunately I 
don't have it set up to anything now so I can't easily test it.
